WHO WE ARE
We’re the passionate team behind Banya—avid dog lovers and dedicated sauna and plunge enthusiasts. During the pandemic, we saw how remote work left many people craving connection. Our physical and emotional health as humans can be amplified by our relationships with others - or even a simple chat and reconnection.
This sparked an idea: What if people could experience the benefits of contrast therapy while also connecting with others? Banya before the bar? A modern meeting place for wellness?
Our mission is create a place that we would all want to hang out in as much as possible - and hope you and your friends will too 🔥❄️💞
Come Banya with us !

Catherine Markovsky
FOUNDER
Catherine is a wellness entrepreneur dedicated to helping people reconnect with themselves through the benefits of hot and cold therapies, social wellness, and many other restorative practices.
Driven by a deep belief in the power of slowing down, Catherine creates spaces where individuals can step away from daily overstimulation and begin to reclaim control over their nervous systems. While living internationally, Catherine was inspired by how other cultures incorporated social wellness into their daily lives. Her inspiration led to the spark that lit the fire of Banya.
Her work centers on making intentional healing accessible, helping people find calm, clarity, and resilience in a fast-paced world.
Catherine has over 25 years practicing Chinese medicine and Acupuncture, and is also the co-owner of FLOTE, a wellness club that specializes in alternative therapies such as floatation tanks (sensory deprivation), infrared sauna, and massage therapy.
In Catherine's free time, she enjoys the heat of the sauna, seeing live music, and finds it difficult to pass up a disco dance party with her loved ones.

Taylor O'Connor
MANAGER
After burning out as an engineer, Taylor left her career to focus on her mental health. During this shift, she met Catherine at FLOTE and became deeply invested in helping bring Banya to life - she is committed to maintaining Banya as a fun, healthy, and respectful place for all humans to discover themselves and each other.
On her path to wellness, practicing yoga would become integral in her pathway for healing. Taylor believes yoga is an invitation for all to enjoy its ancient benefits. It is a practice open to anyone, regardless of flexibility, strength, or experience. Taylor believes the same yogic ideas can be applied to guests who come to Banya— sauna and cold plunge in a social environment is also an age-old practice.
Taylor is a “Multipotentialite” - A term for individuals who have diverse interests and skills, often excelling in multiple areas. Multipotentialites enjoy exploring new topics and can rapidly acquire knowledge, which they use to approach other challenges creatively.
Taylor is a textbook extrovert, artist, yoga instructor, an alcoholic-in-recovery, and holds a degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of New Hampshire.
